New Tag Post-1.5.0 to Include Recent Commits

Hi all,

I’d like to propose creating a new tag to include the commits made since the 1.5.0 release. There have been a significant number of commits since the 1.5.0 release, including important updates.

Would it make sense to tag a snapshot (e.g., 1.5.1 or 1.6.0)?

As for version number, the next release "should" be 1.6.0.

We've been waiting for all of the CI changes, that needed to be made, to be made before starting a release. Additionally, I was waiting for the PG17 branch to be ready. I need to check on both.

Once this is all done we can start with a release.

@serdarmicrosoft Just an update,... we're currently working on a CI issue in PG17 that is holding up getting it ready for a release.
