Research

-

My research interests lie in the area of Network Design & Dimensioning, measurements and WAN optimization. Since May 2010, I have been with IBM in a year-long internship position. In the past, I was working on a research project sponsored by Cisco on the design of ISP aggregations architectures and on a project funded by the ITng Institute related to traffic measurements and NetFlow classification in NCSU. Our work received the best paper award in IEEE CAMAD 2010 and the NSF student travel grant for IEEE GLOBECOM 2010. In the summer of 2007, I had visited VTT Research Institute in Espoo, Finland working on the performance analysis of wireless networks. Our joint work received the best paper award in IEEE GLOBECOM 2007. For the same conference, I have also received the NSF Student Travel Grant. For more detailed information on my work, please check my publications section or the list of my publications googlescholar.

Teaching

In the summer of 2008, I was working for the Engineering Online of NC State University in order to evaluate synchronous e-Learning technologies for the distance education students. For the Fall and Spring semesters of 2007-2009, I have been working as a Teaching Assistant in the ECE Dept. mainly focusing on the Distrance Education sections. In the graduate level courses, we incorporated both asynchronous (e.g video recordings) and synchronous types of assisting (e.g. virtual meeting rooms). In the undergrad classes, I was working as a lab instructor through video broadcasting to UNC at Asheville, NC. Because of the inclusion of new technologies into teaching and for our activities, I have been awarded the Mentor Teaching Assistanship Award in 2009, and nominated twice for the Oustanding Teaching Assistanship Award (2008 and 2009).
