Message incorrectly appearing even with smoothing turned all the way down

Even after turning smoothing down all the way to zero years, the same message "No results for this particular point: try again without smoothing" is displayed again. But if I have already turned down smoothing all the way down to zero, then the "try again without smoothing" message ought not to be displayed again.

This may be an API problem, not a GUI one. What's the exact situation?
