Reviewed every docs page against the code and fixed what was wrong or missing.

Highlights

  • CLI: real command output; logout only removes the rack from the local config; rack precedence; MFA method selection and the commands that always ask for MFA
  • Web UI and MFA: real columns, actions, labels and settings defaults
  • Getting started, concepts, configuration, deployment: setup steps; migrations run before promote (production never migrates on startup); database users and audit roles; anchors are locked by the bucket's default Object Lock rule; private network ingress. Wrote a real OAuth setup page and removed three stub configuration pages
  • Integrations: Slack (bot must be invited to channels, save conflicts, deploy alerts only on new requests); email (the emails actually sent, POSTMARK_FROM default, River's retry schedule); GitHub and CircleCI (real token permissions, branch rules and error messages, a generic CI example instead of a company-specific image); deploy approval workflow (gated routes, MFA on every approval, retry rules)
  • Operations: the one health endpoint and its 503, the real request log format, Sentry scrubbing, heartbeats. Removed Kubernetes probes, Prometheus rules and commands that don't exist (/api/v1/health/ready, admin audit list, migrate --dry-run). Added restore steps and how a restore shows up in verify-audit, and long-term RDS retention with AWS Backup
  • Development: real tasks, the missing routes in the API reference, contribution rules matching the lint policy
  • Repo docs: removed the stale docs/legacy/ copies (the docs site replaces them; the AWS Backup notes moved into Database Maintenance), moved the Convox reference and screenshots to docs/, pointed the README at the docs site, fixed paths in CLAUDE.md, and made .gitignore ignore only the top-level reference/
  • Small code fixes: the CircleCI card mentioned "organization slugs" (no such setting), and the notification retry comment gave the wrong backoff

The docs build passes with all internal links and anchors valid.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Documentation
    • Refreshed setup, deployment, security, operations, CLI, and integration guidance to reflect current behavior and workflows.
    • Updated links, screenshots, and examples; removed outdated guides and placeholder pages.
    • Clarified key user-facing details, including sign-in and MFA requirements, session behavior, audit logging, and deployment approvals.

When you've changed only test files under `web/e2e/`, run Playwright directly against the already-running E2E
stack instead of rebuilding it:

```bash
cd web && bunx playwright test e2e/your-test.spec.ts
Keep task web:e2e mandatory for TypeScript test changes.
This section tells authors to run Playwright directly instead of task web:e2e after changing files under web/e2e/. Replace that instruction with task web:e2e, or present the direct command only as an additional focused run. As per coding guidelines, “After modifying any .tsx, .ts, or .go files” authors must use task web:e2e.
Use the installed mise path in the Linux setup command.
On a fresh Linux system without ~/.local/bin on PATH, the preceding installer succeeds but mise install fails with command not found. Use ~/.local/bin/mise install, or add that directory to PATH first. The mise installation guide documents both the install path and this condition. (mise.jdx.dev)
Add --branch to the wait example.
With default github_verification enabled, the gateway refuses a request without a branch. This example supplies --app but no --branch, so readers cannot reach the wait step. Add --branch "$CIRCLE_BRANCH" to the command.
Document the sender fallback when GOOGLE_ALLOWED_DOMAIN is empty.
If both POSTMARK_FROM and GOOGLE_ALLOWED_DOMAIN are unset, the gateway uses no-reply@localhost, not the default shown here. That address does not satisfy the guide’s verified-sender setup. Tell readers to set POSTMARK_FROM to a verified address in this case, and correct the configuration table’s default.
Include the GitHub token in the quick setup.
With default github_verification enabled, setting vcs_repo is not enough: the gateway refuses approval requests without GITHUB_TOKEN. Add that prerequisite here, or direct readers to disable verification for an app that does not use GitHub.
Add ADMIN_DATABASE_URL to the documented connection precedence.
getAdminDatabaseURL in cmd/gateway/main.go checks variables in this order: ADMIN_DATABASE_URL, RGW_DATABASE_URL, GATEWAY_DATABASE_URL, DATABASE_URL. The doc omits the first and preferred variable. An operator who sets both ADMIN_DATABASE_URL and RGW_DATABASE_URL will expect migrate to use RGW_DATABASE_URL. The command actually uses ADMIN_DATABASE_URL.
🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win
Make the CloudWatch command runnable.
If a reader copies this command, the shell parses <the app's log group> as redirection and an unmatched quote. The metric filter is not created. Use a quoted placeholder, such as --log-group-name "your-log-group-name".
