TestReadme::test_both_carry_the_same_badges exists because the two copies drifted once already, and it caught the same drift again: the coverage commit added CodeQL, Codecov and a documentation link to README.md alone, so master went red on every interpreter. The test is right and the README was wrong. Both copies carry the same seven badges now, all of them absolute URLs, because PyPI renders this page standalone and a relative link there resolves against pypi.org.
