| Lastly, ensure that the permissions you set agree with the user account's permissions. For instance, if you want users to be able to edit files, ensure they have the "chmod" permission to do so for their user account and group. If they don't, Windows users will be restricted from editing, viewing, or changing their files. Always test thoroughly as permissions on OpenIndiana's side can cause issues for Windows users. Note for Windows 11: consider having your Windows 11 users authenticate with a username/password as opposed to a guest account, as Windows 11 has many roadblocks that make this difficult otherwise with passwordless guest accounts. This author personally has spent hours with this, and does not recommend it either! |

This is a long line. The bit about Windows users could go into a note section.
I wouldn't have thought those chmod related issues were specific to Windows users. I've seen this before in general, usually the others permission needs to be opened up if users from different machines are intended to change files they did not create themselves.

Added new content for OI in the docs section on native SMB services. Revised a title format as well. Tested this as well personally to ensure it works with Win 11.
