Two traps hit while producing the 4.10.6 release receipts:
- The packed-upgrade core journey writes an extensionless CommonJS npm shim under TMPDIR. If any ancestor of TMPDIR has a package.json with
"type": "module" (here a stray /private/tmp/package.json), Node runs the shim as ESM and the run fails with require is not defined in ES module scope. The help text recommends TMPDIR=/private/tmp.
dist_stale is computed from file mtimes. After git switch/fast-forward, src/ files are newer than unchanged dist/ artifacts, so a clean, mirror-checked build reports dist_stale: true and release:finish rejects the receipt. CONTRIBUTING's release steps do not say to run npm run build first.
Workarounds used: TMPDIR=$HOME/.mlq, and npm run build before the journeys.
