You can activate the floating mode by selecting "Window -> Floating Mode" from the menu (or using the default shortcut Command+Y).

In this mode, the window will be kept on top of other windows. Pressing Command+Y again will toggle the floating mode on or off.

When the floating window is not active, it becomes translucent. You can adjust the transparency in the settings.
You can create multiple floating windows.
Double-clicking on the top bar of a floating window will toggle its expand/collapse state.
