CircleCI config upgrade to 2.1 necessary

At the top of my CircleCI runs, the following message is showing up:

"CircleCI config version 2.0 is being retired. This project uses config version 2.0, which will no longer be supported. Learn more and upgrade to version 2.1."

The post notes that the effective date for the change is now July 17, 2026.

Hmm, when i look at https://discuss.circleci.com/t/breaking-change-sunsetting-configuration-version-2-0/54605 i see the message James reported, dated 2026-05-21:

But if i click through to that newer message, it takes me to https://discuss.circleci.com/t/breaking-changes-config-compilation-updates-september-21-2026/54719

which says that the new date is 2026-09-21 for three breaking changes, including the EOS for CircleCI 2.0.

So i think we now have until Sep 21 to do this.
