Hi @damzog,
thanks for your contribution.
your pull request now contains 112 files, most of them from other changes not related to your pull request. I'm not a git expert, but can you try to rebase so only your changes are in this pull request?
As far as I can see, the code looks good, but there are no integration-tests. Can you add some or extend an existing one so it validates the "allowpublic" value? If you need a local test environment, you can use kind-deployment. If that is a problem, please tell us.
