There are some prototypes in here. Don't copy colours/copy or anything like that from them. Just the structure and the usage of material 3 expressive. Use material design icons rounded (this should be done after #41). Keep this in line with the rest of the app.
Here's a prototype of the desktop UI with the bottom bar and sidebar:
A few notes:
Buttons in the bottom bar are: add to playlist, more options, shuffle, previous, play/pause, next, repeat, toggle sidebar, lyrics, queue, connect device (it doens't show name if it's playing on current device), miniplayer, fullscreen
Sidebar is scrollable and has: album art, song name and artist (with add to playlist and more options), lryics, up next, song info
Dropdown on now playing lets you select the queue
Fullscreen:
Notes:
Keep the blurred background - this white background is just a placeholder
Default to queue and use the user's last used mode when opening fullscreen
A classifier in hocket-core (about 7 ms per cover) picks one of three styles for each cover:
Mirror: a reflection that blurs with distance.
Extend: the art's edge colour carries on.
Card: rounded art on a moving blurred background. Used when faces, text or a busy edge would look wrong mirrored or extended.
The controls go light or dark based on the generated part, and fall back to the app theme when it's mixed. There's a new setting, Display → Immersive artwork (Automatic / Always / Never).
Proposed fullscreen layout for this redesign
Wide windows (3:2 or wider), mirror and extend covers: the art runs full height on the left, flush to the edges. The song details and controls sit in a floating glass card over the bottom of the art, like Cider. The bottom-right pill stays as in the prototype.
Art only: the generated part fills the right side. When the mouse is idle during playback, the card and pills fade out. Moving the mouse or pressing a key brings them back. They never hide while paused, and there's a setting to turn this off.
Lyrics and queue: the generated part shortens and dissolves into the moving blur, and the panel sits on that blur. The controls don't move when you switch views.
Card covers and narrower windows: the prototype layout, with the rounded art and the same controls card on the blur.
