- openScale is under GPLv3.
- Source Code available
- "Privacy" section indicates that apart from the location permission that is needed to find the user's Bluetooth scale (can be removed after locating the Bluetooth scale or if Bluetooth isn't even used), openScale doesn't send any data to a cloud. They say the app does not have permission to access the internet.
- Possibly no proprietary elements.
- It is mostly stable.
- Still in active development. Note that first commit at December 13, 2014.
- Has a GitHub wiki.
